I use 1/4 cup to 1 gallon hot water in a 1 gallon spray bottle on a Chinese hood caked with soy oil and sprayed chemical every 15 min for a total soak time of 1 hour (remember do not allow chemical to dry on hood or fan bowls or it will bleach theme white so always keep it wet threw the whole cleaning process and rinse hood VERY GOOD) this is the best caustic soda and I have tried all brands by all manufacturing and this dawn formula kicks butt..this is from someone in the kitchen exhaust business for 30 years..highly recommend also I average 2 hood cleanings a night and this 40 pounds has lasted 2 months so far and the price of chemicals is about $140 with tax but if it last 2 months that's only a coat of about $70 spent on chemical per month that will last around 60 standard hoods..wear your eye protection be careful.... hot water will make chemical boil like a volcano so pour slowly.
